About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Network Designer to join a dynamic team focused on delivering complex ICT infrastructure projects. You’ll play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining network and telephony solutions, improving user experience, and reducing security risks across the department’s network landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce complex active and passive design specifications, topologies, and detailed documentation for networks and infrastructure, ensuring fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Contribute to incident reviews and statistical reporting for management and departmental staff.
- Prepare written and verbal advice, briefing papers, and technical artefacts for management and clients regarding ICT services.
- Maintain high standards of quality, adhering to policies, procedures, government and industry standards, and proactively seeking improvements.
- Develop network plans for data, voice, text, and image communications, supporting project objectives and business requirements.
- Design and document telephony and data infrastructure to support connectivity, capacity, security, resilience, and recovery.
- Identify and investigate issues and incidents using analytical problem-solving approaches in a large and complex ICT environment.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical expertise to operational teams, school representatives, and departmental staff.
- Coordinate with operational teams for successful installation and decommissioning of IT hardware, systems, and networks.
- Demonstrated experience in network design, documentation, and implementation for large-scale ICT environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in incident management and technical support.
- Experience in producing network architectures, topologies, and configuration databases.
- Ability to provide specialist advice and maintain expert-level knowledge in network technologies.
- Experience in systems installation and removal, including developing procedures and standards for installation and handover.
- Leadership and mentoring experience within ICT operations teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and provide technical guidance to diverse stakeholders.
This is a 24 Month initial contract role based in Queensland, with immediate start available. You’ll play a key role in delivering robust, secure, and innovative network solutions in a dynamic, high-impact government environment.
