The Department require the service of a Network Technician to provide technical support, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure. This role ensures reliable, secure, and high-performing connectivity across the Department’s ICT environment.
The Network Technician will assist with the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Department’s LAN, WAN, and Wireless networks. You will ensure network connectivity, manage hardware, perform security updates, and provide technical support to resolve connectivity issues for end-users.
Key duties and responsibilities
The candidate is required to but not limited to the duties in:
- Provide support and maintenance for enterprise network infrastructure to agreed service levels.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network connections and services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues through break/fix support and incident management.
- Assist in provisioning new network connections via established processes.
- Support externally provided data services to ensure contracted service levels are met.
- Maintain accurate documentation including network configurations, processes, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with operational and project-based networking activities across wired and wireless environments.
Skills and Experience Required:
1.Demonstrated ability to apply structured, logical approach to diagnosing issues (e.g., OSI model troubleshooting)
2.Proven ability to apply security patches, update firmware and maintain firewall rules.
3.Ability to install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points (e.g. Juniper, HP, Cisco).
4.Knowledge of Network monitoring tools (e.g. SolarWinds, Nagios, CheckMK) and ability to update and manage nodes for Data Collection.
5.Maintain accurate network diagrams, IP address management (IPAM), As-Built Documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures
Location and Contract Term: This role is based in ACT . 12 month contract with 2x12-month extension options pending budget and delegate approval.
Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a NV1 security clearance.
