About the End Client
The end client is a large public sector organisation operating within a regulated environment and undertaking a significant Oracle platform upgrade as part of a broader data and infrastructure transformation program. This role supports a critical upgrade from Oracle 12c to 19c, ensuring performance, availability, and security across core systems.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support a major enterprise database upgrade initiative. You will play a key role in upgrading, supporting, and optimising Oracle environments while working closely with developers, system administrators, and broader IT teams.
This is a 12‑month contract commencing mid‑March, with strong potential for extension based on delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle database software.
- Support and deliver the Oracle 12c to 19c upgrade across enterprise environments.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to ensure optimal operation.
- Manage Oracle RAC and Data Guard configurations.
- Perform backup and recovery operations using RMAN.
- Ensure database security, compliance, and adherence to organisational policies.
- Collaborate with developers and system administrators during application deployment and upgrades.
- Maintain database documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues in production environments.
- 5+ years’ experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle 12c and 19c architecture.
- Hands‑on experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and RMAN.
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL.
- Experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience using Oracle Enterprise Manager.
- Strong understanding of database security and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Experience with cloud‑based database solutions is desirable.
- Oracle certification (OCP) preferred.
- AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance(mandatory).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Multiple locations available including Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, and Adelaide.
- Long‑term 12‑month contract supporting a critical enterprise database upgrade.
