About the Role
We are seeking two Principal IRAP Assessors / Cyber Security Specialists (EL2 equivalent) to contribute to the development of a new national cyber assessment framework and associated training programs.
In this senior role, you will provide expert guidance on cyber security assessments, training development, and the uplift of cyber maturity across whole‑of‑government environments. You will support the rollout of the new “Essentials” framework, help design and refine assessment processes, and contribute subject‑matter expertise to training packages, micro‑credentials, and capability uplift activities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering subject matter expertise to support the development of new assessment processes aligned with the agency’s updated security guidance.
- Assisting with the design and delivery of training courses and micro‑credentials relating to enterprise systems and future framework chapters (e.g., Operational Technology).
- Engaging with stakeholders across government to support change management, consultative forums, and communication strategies.
- Aligning training content with new IRAP 2.0 requirements and contributing to uplift activities for assessors and assessment bodies.
- Providing expert advice, quality assurance, and contributing to the upkeep of cyber training labs, tools, and artefacts.
- Supporting whole‑of‑government initiatives relating to the PSPF, Hosting Certification Framework, and other security programs where relevant.
You will thrive in this role if you are a highly experienced cyber security professional with strong assessment expertise and the ability to contribute to national‑level capability uplift initiatives. You’re someone who is comfortable operating at an EL2-equivalent level and can bring both technical depth and strategic insight.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 3+ years delivering complex cyber security policy, guidance, training, or security assessments for an intelligence or cyber‑focused organisation.
- Minimum 2+ years conducting ICT security assessments.
- Strong understanding of the IRAP Assessor role, relevant frameworks, and security policies.
- Demonstrated capacity to deliver all key duties and responsibilities effectively.
- Degree or postgraduate qualifications in Cyber Security or ICT.
- Industry‑recognised certifications.
- Experience developing or delivering national-level cyber security training programs.
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT. Candidates based in Melbourne, VIC, can be considered. Candidates from VIC must be willing and available to travel to the ACT as required.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus potential extensions
Experience level: EL1 equivalent
Security Requirements: A minimum NV1 clearance is required for this position. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
