About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to lead the development and delivery of digital products and services within a complex government environment.
Working closely with users, stakeholders, delivery teams and user researchers, you will be responsible for ensuring products deliver maximum value, align with business objectives, and meet evolving user needs. You will take ownership of product roadmaps, backlog prioritisation, stakeholder engagement and delivery outcomes while guiding teams through the full product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain product roadmaps and delivery plans.
  • Prioritise product features and backlog items based on user and business value.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across complex environments.
  • Drive change initiatives and support the successful adoption of new capabilities.
  • Manage project risks, reporting, and governance activities.
  • Collaborate closely with user researchers, designers and technical teams to optimise user experiences and product outcomes.
The Successful Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or similar role within complex technology or government environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate across diverse groups.
  • Experience developing product strategies, roadmaps and managing product backlogs.
  • A strong understanding of user-centred design principles and user experience practices.
  • The ability to balance competing priorities while delivering outcomes in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience working within Agile and/or PRINCE2 delivery frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
 
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Experience Level: Senior – EL1 Equivalent
Security Requirements: Candidates must hold an active or reactivatable Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Security Clearance on submission. Our client is not looking to upgrade an existing clearance for this position. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
