A major Government Department delivering complex projects and technical work packages within a PRINCE2 environment, supporting Business Solution Delivery (BSD) and Information Technology Branch (ITB) governance. This role is pivotal in ensuring successful project outcomes and benefits realisation.
About the Role
The Program Advisor provides high-quality support to both programs and projects, working closely with Program Managers, Project Managers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective delivery of outcomes. This role requires a strong understanding of program and project management methodologies, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate and manage program and project information, governance artefacts, and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing program and project delivery support across multiple initiatives, working within PRINCE2, Agile, and other program management frameworks.
- Assisting Program and Project Managers in the preparation, review, and quality assurance of key artefacts (e.g., business cases, program and project initiation documents, project and program documentation, and status reports).
- Coordinating and supporting governance forums, including the preparation of agendas, minutes, presentations, reports, and decision records.
- Supporting and maintaining accurate project and program schedules, undertaking regular reviews with managers, and ensuring resources are accurately requested and allocated.
- Support Project and Program Managers with timesheets ensuring correct allocation of effort to project and program activities.
- Preparing and reconciling program and project financial reports, including tracking budgets, forecasts, actuals, variances, and billing information.
- Support maintaining and monitoring risk, issue, and change registers, ensuring timely updates and proactive management of delivery challenges.
- Building strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to achieve program and project objectives.
- Identifying opportunities to improve program and project management processes, tools, and reporting.
- Undertaking additional tasks as required to support program and project delivery.
- Meeting quarterly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with the role.
Core Competencies
- Experience with Microsoft Project (Project Online) or similar scheduling and resource management tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Experience working within public sector and/or large, complex organisational environments. Qualifications or understanding of program management frameworks (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) or other related program/ project frameworks).

- 12-Month initial contract role with a February 2026 start available.
