This opportunity is within a NSW State Government Department and is for an experienced Project Manager with a strong track record delivering complex initiatives across people, process, and technology. We are seeking a high-calibre professional to support a key program focused on operational resilience and response improvements.
This is a fully onsite role (5 days per week, Sydney-based) and requires a candidate who thrives in complex, stakeholder-driven environments.
The Project Manager leads and manages the delivery of allocated projects so that the planned outcomes are achieved to schedule, scope, budget, and benefits realisation.
About the role:
You will lead and manage the delivery of strategic projects to improve operational response capability and resilience to disruptions across the organisation.
Reporting to the Senior Manager – Workforce Development & Programs, you will ensure projects are delivered within schedule, scope, budget, and achieve targeted business outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end project delivery, ensuring timelines, scope, and budgets are met
- Proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints
- Drive strong stakeholder engagement across all project phases
- Ensure seamless integration of project outcomes into business-as-usual operations
- Develop and maintain high-quality project documentation and artefacts
- Monitor and report on project performance, budgets, and delivery metrics
- Support delivery of sustainable business benefits and operational improvements
- Navigating complex stakeholder environments with competing priorities
- Delivering within tight deadlines and constrained budgets
- Driving transformational change within an industrially complex environment
- Managing legacy systems alongside ongoing organisational change initiatives
- Supporting both operational and cultural uplift
The successful candidate:
- Minimum 8+ years’ Project Management experience across Business and IT initiatives
- Strong demonstrated experience delivering across: People, process, and technology capabilities
- Experience applying or working within: Human-centred design approaches; Active listening and stakeholder engagement frameworks
- Proven ability to operate in industrially and operationally complex environments
- Recognised Project Management qualification(PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent)
- Strong track record of: Building relationships; Influencing senior stakeholders; Delivering outcomes in partnership with business leaders
