Deployment & Cutover Lead – S/4Hana

About the Consultancy

Join a leading international consultancy delivering major digital transformation programs across government, utilities, and enterprise clients worldwide. With a reputation for excellence in human‑centred design, enterprise UX, and SAP transformation, this consultancy offers the opportunity to shape intuitive and future‑proof user experiences across multi‑phase roadmaps.

About the End Client

The end client is a major organisation undergoing a significant multi‑year digital transformation program. This role plays a critical part in translating technical design outputs into clear, meaningful user experiences that support both immediate project objectives and broader transformation goals.

About the Role

The Deployment and Cutover Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all activities required to transition from legacy systems to SAP S/4HANA, including integrations with third‑party applications. This role ensures smooth implementation, minimal business disruption, and successful go‑live outcomes. The ideal candidate has deep experience with S/4HANA, strong understanding of end‑to‑end deployment methodologies, and a proven track record managing complex cutover events in integrated environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the end‑to‑end cutover strategy, including detailed timelines, resource plans, and go‑live readiness criteria.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams in planning and executing deployment and cutover activities across business, technical, and infrastructure workstreams.
  • Coordinate with SAP S/4HANA functional and technical teams to ensure alignment on conversion requirements, data migration activities, system freeze timelines, and deployment milestones.
  • Oversee integration readiness and cutover steps involving third‑party systems, APIs, middleware, and external partners.
  • Facilitate cutover workshops, daily readiness meetings, go/no‑go discussions, and hypercare planning sessions.
  • Manage creation and validation of detailed cutover task lists, runbooks, fallback plans, and communication plans.
  • Ensure all data migration, configuration transport, interface activation, and system validation tasks are completed successfully.
  • Identify risks, issues, and dependencies related to deployment and cutover; drive mitigation actions with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Track progress against key milestones and provide status reporting to program leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Support hypercare activities post‑go‑live to ensure stability and quick resolution of deployment‑related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational change management, release management, and quality assurance processes.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Cutover Lead or Deployment Lead on SAP S/4HANA implementation programs including integration with third party applications.
  • Hands‑on experience coordinating cutover activities involving multiple third‑party integrations, middleware, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex cross‑functional teams in high‑pressure go‑live situations.
  • Experience developing cutover plans, runbooks, fallback plans, and deployment governance structures.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work with business and technical teams to resolve sequencing, dependency, and readiness challenges.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large‑scale global S/4HANA rollouts.
  • Familiarity with tools such as SAP Solution Manager, SAP Activate methodology, and common migration tools.
  • Experience in environments with multiple business units, time zones, and integration landscapes.
  • PMP, Agile, or SAP‑related certifications.
