About the Role
They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver critical software migration projects for a financial services client operating on the IBM Z (mainframe) platform. This role will involve managing one or more workstreams within complex programs, ensuring delivery excellence across scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong Project Manager with proven experience leading cross-functional teams in enterprise environments, ideally within mainframe or legacy modernisation programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project management activities across one or multiple workstreams for IBM Z software migration projects
- Collaborate with Program Managers to review project proposals, define goals, timelines, funding, and resource allocation
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans across planning, execution, and delivery phases
- Monitor progress and provide regular reporting on status, risks, scope changes, and key challenges to stakeholders and leadership
- Ensure alignment between project execution and business/strategic objectives
- Manage stakeholder communications, both internally and with clients, regarding milestones, risks, and delivery updates
- Drive effective governance, including scope control, risk management, and change management
- Coordinate cross-functional technical teams, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery
- Support decision-making by providing clear, structured, and actionable insights to leadership
Mandatory Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of technical Project Management experience
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices
- Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional technical teams
- Proven track record of delivering projects across scope, schedule, cost, and contractual commitments
- Experience with project planning, tracking, risk management, and change control
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt in dynamic environments
Preferred Skills (Highly Regarded)
- Experience working with IBM Z (Mainframe) environments
- Familiarity with IBM Z software products
- Background in application development on IBM Z, including languages such as COBOL or PL/I
- Experience in migration or modernisation projects

- This is a remote-first role with occasional travel to client sites across the Asia-Pacific region
- Candidates must be flexible to work APAC business hours
