The end client operates within a highly regulated financial services environment, requiring strong oversight across operational risk, compliance, and regulatory response activities. This role supports ongoing advisory engagements focused on BAU regulatory delivery, risk governance, and compliance uplift, rather than large‑scale transformation programs.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a senior Promontory Principal to lead risk, regulatory, and compliance engagements, providing strategic advisory while maintaining strong operational delivery oversight.
This role is client-facing and delivery-focused, with responsibility for:
- Leading day‑to‑day regulatory and compliance engagements
- Providing expert advice across non‑financial risk and operational resilience
- Driving high‑quality reporting, analysis, and client outcomes
Start: 1 June 2026
Contract: 12 months
Location: Sydney / Melbourne
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Advisory & Risk Leadership (BAU Focus)
- Lead and manage risk, regulatory, and compliance engagements on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Analyse complex organisational challenges and provide practical, actionable recommendations.
- Support uplift of operational risk, resilience, and governance frameworks aligned to regulatory requirements.
- Lead independent reviews, compliance testing, and control validation activities.
- Conduct lookbacks and investigations to identify risk exposures and remediation needs.
- Validate implementation of remediation programs and ensure effectiveness.
- Lead responses to regulatory requests, reviews, and examinations.
- Support preparation of executive teams, boards, and stakeholders for regulatory interactions.
- Develop and oversee remediation plans to address regulatory findings.
- Drive implementation of regulatory response strategies through to completion.
- Conduct mock regulatory examinations to identify control gaps and readiness issues.
- Provide structured feedback and recommendations aligned to regulatory expectations and best practice.
- Lead project management activities, including planning, tracking, and delivery oversight.
- Manage risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.
- Ensure engagements are delivered within agreed timelines, scope, and quality standards.
- Communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively across:
- Written deliverables
- Stakeholder presentations
- Senior executive discussions
- Engage confidently with stakeholders across business, risk, compliance, and leadership functions.
- 6+ years’ experience
in one or more of:
- Financial services
- Regulatory or compliance functions
- Consulting or advisory roles
- Risk management or governance
- Strong experience across:
- Non-financial risk and operational risk frameworks
- Regulatory compliance and governance
- Risk analysis and control testing
- Proven ability to lead client engagements and advisory delivery.
- Strong analytical capability, with the ability to assess complex issues and provide structured recommendations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience within APRA‑regulated environments or similar regulatory frameworks.
- Exposure to operational resilience, incident management, or third‑party risk.
- Background in regulatory advisory, consulting, or internal audit.
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and regulators.
- Senior advisory role within a high‑impact regulatory and risk practice.
