Our client is a major NSW State Government agency focused on delivering secure, resilient, and compliant digital services. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing enterprise security architectures that protect critical systems and citizen data.
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Security Architect to lead the design and governance of security frameworks across complex government environments. You’ll play a key role in defining security strategies, ensuring compliance with NSW Cyber Security Policy, and enabling secure cloud and on-premise solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement enterprise security architecture aligned with NSW Government standards.
- Develop security patterns for hybrid environments (Azure, AWS, on-prem).
- Define and enforce identity and access management (IAM) strategies using Azure AD, MFA, and RBAC.
- Lead risk assessments, threat modelling, and security reviews for new projects.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, Essential Eight, and NSW Cyber Security Policy.
- Collaborate with solution architects, network teams, and application owners to embed security controls.
- Provide guidance on secure API integration, encryption standards, and data protection.
- Support incident response planning and security audits.
- 8+ years in security architecture within large enterprise or government environments.
- Strong knowledge of Azure security services (Key Vault, Defender, Sentinel) and AWS security tools.
- Expertise in IAM, PKI, encryption, and secure network design.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, Essential Eight).
- Experience with security tooling such as Splunk, CrowdStrike, CyberArk.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture.
- Experience with container security (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Familiarity with NSW Government security standards and procurement processes.
Long-term contract role based in Sydney, with potential conversion to permanent. You’ll play a key role in shaping secure digital services for NSW citizens.
