About the Role
We are seeking an NV2‑cleared Security Architect to support a secure system build project in Canberra. This role is responsible for the design, assurance, and governance of secure architectures across infrastructure, cloud, application, and network environments. You will work closely with project teams to embed security‑by‑design principles, oversee security controls, and support formal accreditation processes.
This is an initial 6‑month engagement with extension opportunities, with the option to transition to a permanent role for those seeking long‑term career stability.
Role Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and oversee secure architectures across infrastructure, network, cloud, and application components.
- Develop and maintain security architecture artefacts, including security models, standards, and design documentation.
- Conduct threat modelling, risk assessments, and security impact analyses.
- Ensure alignment with security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, CIS, and the Australian Government ISM.
- Provide architectural oversight and assurance across system build, integration, testing, and deployment.
- Support accreditation activities and produce security documentation for Authorising Officers.
- Advise technical teams on secure configuration standards and risk treatment plans.
- Monitor emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies to uplift organisational security posture.
- Deliver guidance and awareness sessions to project teams on secure engineering practices.
- Degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in security architecture, cyber security engineering, or related technical security roles (senior experience highly regarded).
- Strong understanding of enterprise security architecture, identity and access management, cryptography, and network security.
- Demonstrated experience designing secure solutions within complex or regulated environments.
- Knowledge of recognised security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS, ISM, etc.).
- High‑level analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing formal security artefacts.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- 6‑month contract with strong extension potential.
