About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior ADABAS Natural Developer to play a key role in a major enterprise system modernisation program.
You will contribute to the replacement of a critical legacy platform with a modern, cloud-based system—supporting large-scale data migration, system redesign, and application development. This role sits within a data management capability stream, focused on ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and migration of legacy data into the new platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain applications using ADABAS and NATURAL (online & batch)
- Produce technical specifications, system designs, and documentation
- Support application development, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Perform code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement practices
- Work closely with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions
- Conduct technical analysis and impact assessments
- Ensure compliance with security, architectural, and development standards
- Document business processes and technical workflows
- Demonstrated experience with ADABAS database and NATURAL programming
- Strong knowledge of JCL, TSO, and partitioned datasets
- Proven experience delivering across full SDLC (Agile, Waterfall, or RUP)
- Ability to conduct design and code reviews
- Experience working on complex legacy system environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exposure to web technologies (AJAX, HTML, XML, CSS, Java)
- Experience within large-scale government or enterprise transformation programs
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines
- High level of resilience and adaptability in complex environments
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making capability
- Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or NZ Citizen
- Ability to obtain/hold a Baseline Security Clearance
- Willingness to undergo police and background checks
- Work on a once-in-a-generation transformation program
- Contribute to a high-impact, mission-critical platform
- Long-term contract through to June 2027
- Competitive daily rate up to $906 incl. super
