Senior AI Engineer

Seeking a Senior AI Cloud Engineer with 7+Years experience with delivering AI, ML and Data Engineering solutions at scale with high regard for security, fault tolerance, governance, and cost optimisation.

Our agency is seeking a dedicated Senior AI Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic development team. You will be working on a large group of technical specialists across different areas and will be instrumental in designing and delivering critical AI solutions, ensuring they meet the highest standards for performance, security, responsibility, and digital accessibility. It is critical that the candidate has senior level experience in creating enterprise class solutions with a vast knowledge of Generative AI, Data Engineering and Cloud Technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and build Gen AI and Standard AI solutions employing the most up to date concepts in the field.

• Apply solid Data Engineering concepts where applicable in the creation of AI solutions.

• Apply domain expertise and innovative ideas to design solutions.

• Identify customer needs and understand business goals to envisage the high-level solution, and translate complex concepts and requirements into technical solutions but also being able to communicate them to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Design and build scalable AI solutions considering ethics, security, performance, and cost optimisation.

• Keep abreast of the latest advances in cloud computing applicable to AI and Data Engineering.

• Provide expert advice on matters related to strategic solution design and tool selection.

• Work collaboratively with other teams and business areas. Validate or challenge proposals or ideas and present viable well thought out alternatives
 

Skills and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative discipline

• (7+Years of experience) with a proven record of delivering AI, ML and Data Engineering solutions at scale with high regard for security, fault tolerance, governance, and cost optimisation.

• Strong understanding of end-to-end AI Solutions and modern Data Engineering, using cloud technology.

• Advanced Machine Learning and expertise in the full lifecycle of ML model deployment, from staging to production (MLOps).

• Data engineering: Skills in data preprocessing, feature engineering, and working with big data tools.

• Knowledge of modern AI applications, including strong understanding of Large or Small Language Models (LLMs and SLMs), fine-tuning them and how to methodically evaluate them, observability, and monitoring.

• RAG, Model Distillation, and applying advanced Prompt Engineering techniques.

• Containerisation and orchestration (Kubernetes)

• Strong experience building Agentic AI solutions.

• Strong experience with LangChain, LangGraph or similar open Frameworks.

• Good understanding of Python programming.

• Applying Responsible/Ethical AI controls.

• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.

• AWS Cloud computing.

• Knowledge of platform-specific AI/ML services (e.g. Kubeflow, AWS Bedrock. AWS Comprehend)

• Automation design and implementation.

• Data pipelines for different purposes (ingestion, curation, organisation, build other structures, containers creation, etc.), ETL, ELT, pipelines orchestration.

• Ability to provide expert advice on matters related to solutions design and tool selection.

• Highly developed strategic thinking, able to see past current situations and enable approaches that can solve today’s and tomorrow's problems.

• Advanced critical thinking skills with a capacity to face unknown challenges with an ability to work independently.

• Ability to guide teams, set technical direction, and mentor junior engineers.

• Highly adaptable and keep abreast of modern concepts and trends that may be of use to the organisation.

• Be able to mediate between different teams, team members, or business areas whenever disagreements occur and propose potential solutions.

• Proactively identify issues, customer or technological needs and propose solution that may address them withing established organisational parameters.

• Experience in large organisations and large cloud deployments.

• Open minded and able to pivot to other priorities managing the unexpected if needed.

• Good communication (written and oral) and people skills.

• Strong relationship and team collaboration focus, with willingness and ability to actively teach and upskill other team members.

• Able to build and maintain professional relationships with other teams and stakeholders.

• Focus on influencing others to adopt new methodologies, being more practical than prescriptive.

• Able to work in a project and adhere to SCRUM framework

 

Contract: 12 Month Contract with 2 x 12 months extension  

Security Required: Baseline security Clearance required

Location- Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney
