About the End Client
The end client is a large, highly regulated enterprise undergoing uplift across its digital and integration capabilities. This role supports the delivery of robust API services and integration frameworks within a fast-paced environment where quality, security, and reliability are critical.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior API Developer to take a key role in end-to-end delivery across API and integration initiatives. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders and technical leads to shape requirements, document functional specifications, design interfaces, and deliver scalable services within an Agile delivery model.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining strong hands-on development with stakeholder engagement, solution design, and delivery leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end delivery, including participating in requirement discussions with business stakeholders to finalise functional specifications and interface documents.
- Partner with business teams to determine functional requirements for new services.
- Work with Tech Leads and stakeholders to support reviews and sign-offs.
- Work within an Agile delivery structure to document, communicate, and deliver changes.
- Document API requirements, designs, and functional specifications to a high standard.
- Design and build robust interfaces to integrate multiple systems and technologies.
- Support consulting engagements, workshops, and broader delivery activities across internal and external teams.
- Proactively contribute to remediation of software issues related to code quality, security, and patterns/frameworks.
- Mentor junior consultants and support capability uplift within delivery teams.
Core Technical Skills
- Java 8+
- Spring Framework 5.x, Spring Boot 2.x
- Testing & quality: JUnit 5, Mockito, TDD
- Tooling: Postman, logging frameworks, strong IDE usage
- Experience delivering API frameworks
- Experience in Infrastructure / DevOps design
- Maven, Git, Splunk, Bamboo
- Swagger
- Design patterns and standards
- Banking project experience (mandatory)
- Strong debugging skills and clean, efficient coding practices
