Senior Business Architect

About the Company
Join a major public sector transformation program focused on modernising finance capabilities and improving the delivery of services across government. This large-scale initiative will shape the future of financial management by driving standardisation, efficiency, transparency, and improved service delivery outcomes through the design and implementation of a contemporary Finance Target Operating Model.
This is an opportunity to contribute to a high-profile transformation program that will deliver long-term strategic benefits, working alongside senior executives, business leaders, architects, and program professionals.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Architect to provide strategic leadership in defining the future-state Business Architecture and Finance Target Operating Model (TOM) for a significant finance transformation initiative.
The successful candidate will lead the design of future business capabilities, governance frameworks, service delivery models, organisational structures, roles and responsibilities, and guiding principles that will support a modern, efficient, and sustainable finance function.
Working across multiple business areas and stakeholders, you will drive the harmonisation of enterprise-wide finance capabilities, business processes, and value streams. You will play a critical role in ensuring future-state business requirements remain strategically focused, outcome-driven, and independent of legacy technology constraints.
This is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, governance, and business transformation expertise.

Role Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the future-state Finance Target Operating Model, including business capabilities, governance, service delivery models, organisational design, and operating principles.

    • Record-to-Report
    • Asset Management
    • Related finance business processes
  • Facilitate business workshops to simplify, standardise, and harmonise processes, policies, and business rules across multiple stakeholders.
  • Develop future-state business requirements, capability models, business rules, process maps, and business architecture artefacts.
  • Ensure business requirements remain outcome-focused, technology-agnostic, and aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Establish and lead Business Design Authority governance processes.
  • Manage business design governance artefacts and decision registers.
  • Facilitate executive decision-making and ensure alignment with the agreed Target Operating Model.
  • Support procurement activities, including development of Request for Tender (RFT) documentation and vendor evaluation processes.
  • Contribute to business capability models, functional and non-functional requirements, and solution assessment activities.
  • Work closely with change managers and business leaders to assess organisational impacts and support business readiness activities.
  • Define measurable benefits, success criteria, and benefits realisation frameworks.
  • Collaborate with enterprise, solution, data, integration, security, procurement, and program delivery teams to ensure business outcomes are reflected in solution architecture and implementation planning.
  • Support the successful delivery of transformation outcomes through effective stakeholder engagement, governance, and business design leadership.

What You Will Bring
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • 10-15+ years of experience in Business Architecture, Enterprise Business Design, Business Transformation, or related disciplines.
