About the Role
The Senior Cloud & Automation Engineer will play a key role in designing, delivering, and enhancing secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-based solutions within client environments.
You will be responsible for:
- Developing automation that improves scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency across cloud platforms.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to design cost‑effective, secure cloud solutions.
- Identifying opportunities to consolidate, simplify, and improve existing cloud‑based or cloud‑enabled services.
- Designing and implementing automated scripts, IaC templates, and cloud deployment mechanisms.
- Managing complex cloud environments with a strong focus on security, data protection, and compliance.
- Running automated tests across systems, applications, networks, and databases.
- Identifying bugs, inefficiencies, and workflow improvements throughout the software and systems lifecycle.
To excel in this role, you will bring:
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- A degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or similar field.
- Strong programming and scripting abilities.
- Expertise in at least one major cloud platform (AWS preferred).
- Hands‑on experience with automation tools and Infrastructure‑as‑Code.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex systems and run advanced testing processes.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus potential extensions
Experience level: EL1 equivalent
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
