About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior ICT Security Engineer to support the delivery, accreditation and ongoing sustainment of mission-critical ICT capabilities.
You will lead security engineering activities across complex ICT systems, ensuring security requirements and controls are embedded throughout the system lifecycle. A key focus of the position will be achieving and maintaining Authority to Operate (ATO) approvals through the development of security documentation, risk assessments and accreditation artefacts.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and developing ICT system security activities
- Leading activities required to achieve and maintain ATO approvals
- Developing Concepts of Operations and System Security Plans
- Conducting security risk assessments, threat assessments and compliance reviews
- Preparing executive briefs, technical documentation and security recommendations
- Reviewing information systems for actual or potential security-control issues
- Negotiating with ICT engineers, architects and security specialists to achieve accreditation outcomes
- Communicating complex technical and security information to technical and non-technical audiences
The Successful Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an accomplished ICT security professional with demonstrated experience leading the implementation and ongoing compliance of security controls within complex technology environments.
You will bring:
- Strong experience developing and maintaining ATO documentation, System Security Plans and supporting accreditation artefacts
- Demonstrated capability in security risk assessments, threat assessments and compliance reviews
- A proven ability to work with engineers, architects and cyber security stakeholders to resolve issues and secure accreditation outcomes
- Excellent technical writing skills, including experience preparing executive briefs and recommendations for senior stakeholders
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving capabilities
- The ability to operate effectively within multidisciplinary and highly regulated environments
Formal security qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP or SABSA will be highly regarded, along with IRAP Assessor Training or equivalent accreditation experience. Previous experience supporting Defence, national security, secure infrastructure, cloud environments or system-integration projects would also be advantageous.
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Experience Level: APS6 Equivalent
Security Requirements: Candidates must hold an active or reactivatable Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Security Clearance on submission. Our client is not prepared to upgrade an existing clearance for this position. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
