An experienced Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Katalon Studio to design, build, and enhance a scalable automation framework supporting web applications, APIs, and SAP modules. This role is responsible for establishing a robust, maintainable, and reusable automation architecture that can be easily adopted by team members and extended to future systems.
Primary Duties:
1. Framework Design & Development - design and implement a comprehensive automation framework using Katalon Studio, covering:
- Web application functional/UI automation
- REST/SOAP API automation
- SAP module automation (UI interaction, workflows, validations)
- Integration with test data sources (Excel/CSV/DB/API)
- Centralized object repository and reusable custom keywords
- Modular structure to ensure minimal duplication and high maintainability
- Designing a layered framework that separates test logic, data, utilities, and object repositories
- Ensuring SAP, APIs, and web frameworks follow a unified architectural approach
- Introducing reusable components, custom keywords, and utilities that support rapid test creation
- Optimizing execution workflows for parallel testing and CI/CD integration
- Creating a structure that supports onboarding of new applications with minimal effort
- Automating high-value candidates identified for automation and prioritizing them
- Establishing automation standards, coding best practices, naming conventions, and documentation guidelines
- Introducing advanced Katalon features (keywords, plugins, global variables, profiles, dynamic objects, WebUI enhancements)
- Building a roadmap for framework scaling and integration
- Reducing script flakiness and ensuring stability across releases and environments
- Implementing robust wait strategies, exception handling, and recovery mechanisms
- Improving performance of long-running scripts through optimization techniques
- Ensuring test data and object handling are designed for high maintainability
- Reducing test execution times and improving reliability of regression suites
- Setting up automatic reporting, logging, and error documentation
- Developer-friendly documentation
- Training sessions, demos, and best-practice guidelines
- Mentoring team members in Katalon scripting and framework usage
Location and Contract Term: This role can be based in QLD, WA, ACT, VIC, NSW, SA, TAS with Hybrid working arrangements available. Contract till June 2026 with 1 x 12-month extension option pending budget and delegate approval.
Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a NV1 security clearance.
