About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Kubernetes Infrastructure Engineer to join a specialised infrastructure team responsible for delivering and maintaining a highly available, secure Kubernetes environment across on‑premises and hybrid cloud platforms.
In this role, you will work closely with platform engineering teams and internal stakeholders to administer, troubleshoot and continuously improve Kubernetes solutions. You will contribute to cluster architecture, automation, security hardening and operational maturity, ensuring platforms remain resilient, scalable and fit for purpose.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Designing, delivering and administering enterprise Kubernetes platforms
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters across on‑premises and hybrid environments
  • Contributing to cluster architecture, deployment patterns and solution design
  • Ensuring platforms are secure, compliant and hardened through patching, policy enforcement and audit logging
  • Implementing monitoring, logging and observability to ensure availability and performance
  • Driving automation and infrastructure maturity through CI/CD and IaC practices
  • Producing and maintaining clear technical documentation
  • Collaborating with internal teams and project stakeholders to deliver tailored solutions
The Successful Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will be a senior‑level engineer with deep Kubernetes expertise and experience working in complex, secure enterprise environments.
Essential experience:
  • Extensive experience managing and administering Kubernetes in enterprise environments
  • Strong capability in designing, automating, securing, updating and maintaining Kubernetes clusters
  • Experience deploying Kubernetes across on‑premises and hybrid cloud environments
  • Contribution to infrastructure‑as‑code pipelines and CI/CD automation
  • Proven ability to consult with internal customers and clearly articulate technical problems and solutions
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes security, including network policies, admission controllers and container image scanning
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills across OS, application, network and storage layers
Desirable experience:
  • Relevant Kubernetes certifications
  • Experience with Kubernetes distributions and tooling such as kubeadm, K3s or Rancher
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana)
 
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Experience Level: Senior – EL1 Equivalent
Security Requirements: Must be an Australian Citizens with an active NV1 (Negative Vetting 1) or higher security clearance An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
