About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Satellite Communications Engineer to join a specialist team responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced satellite communication systems. This role will involve working with both legacy GEO infrastructure and emerging NGSO technologies, contributing to high-level design activities, technology investigations, and the deployment of satellite terminals across international locations.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable and secure satellite communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain satellite communication systems.
- Support technology investigations and high-level design activities.
- Deploy and maintain satellite terminals across geographically dispersed sites.
- Produce technical documentation, including designs and maintenance plans.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure system reliability and security.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- 5+ years’ experience in satellite communications engineering, including GEO and NGSO systems.
- Strong understanding of RF and microwave communication systems.
- Proven ability to plan and implement high-availability WAN services.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel to remote and international locations as required.
- A relevant qualification in Electronics or Communications Engineering.
- Experience supporting government or defence satellite communications projects.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers or field technicians.
- Contract Duration: 12 months with 2 x 12-month extension options.
- Location: Canberra, ACT.
- Working Arrangement: Onsite (no remote/hybrid options).
- Security Clearance: NV2 (mandatory).
