About the Role
We are seeking experienced Senior Systems Administrator / Infrastructure Engineers to support the delivery, management and optimisation of complex infrastructure environments across on-premises, virtualised and cloud platforms.
Working within an integrated technical team, you will be responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining infrastructure services while driving automation, system reliability and operational improvements. You will play a key role in supporting containerised and virtualised environments, mentoring team members, and contributing to infrastructure design and deployment activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the installation, configuration and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure platforms.
- Develop and maintain automated system builds and configuration management processes.
- Provide ongoing hardware and operating system support.
- Support and mentor team members while contributing to capability uplift initiatives.
- Collaborate with system administrators, engineers and software developers to improve processes and procedures.
- Participate in design reviews, stakeholder engagements and technical planning activities.
- Support the deployment and maintenance of Kubernetes and VMware-based environments across multiple cloud platforms.
- Manage infrastructure within complex and highly secure operational environments.
To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong infrastructure engineering background and extensive experience supporting Linux-based enterprise environments.
You will possess:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience administering Linux systems across both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Strong experience with VMware technologies, including design, deployment and lifecycle management.
- Sound knowledge of cloud services, virtualisation technologies and modern infrastructure practices.
- Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes and containerised workloads.
- Strong networking expertise, including VLANs, DNS, load balancing and firewall configuration.
- Experience deploying and supporting developer and analyst tooling, including IDEs, package management platforms and access controls.
- Experience implementing and managing isolated or sandboxed environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- The ability to work independently, navigate complex environments and prioritise competing demands.
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Experience Level: EL1 Equivalent
Security Requirements: Candidates must hold an active Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Security Clearance on submission. Our client is not looking to upgrade an existing clearance for this position. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
