Our Federal Government client is currently seeking Senior Systems Administrators to join their teams in the ACT.

About the role
A Systems Administrator plays a key role in keeping critical technology running smoothly by managing, maintaining, and improving systems within a collaborative, integrated team environment—ensuring reliability, performance, and seamless support for day‑to‑day operations.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the installation, configuration and maintenance of multiple systems.
- Use automation tools to support system build development and continuous configuration management.
- Manage and provide expert advice on ongoing hardware and operating system support.
- Guide and uplift the capability of team members while working collaboratively within an integrated team environment.
- Prioritise and allocate tasks effectively, contributing to design reviews, stakeholder discussions, and agile delivery processes.
- Partner with system administrators and software developers to continually refine and improve processes and procedures.
- Navigate a complex organisational environment with limited direction, engaging confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Communicate clearly with diverse stakeholder groups, translating between technical detail and business needs.
What you will bring:
- Technical expertise in applying operational procedures, supporting infrastructure maintenance and updates, implementing agreed changes, analysing system load and performance, automating provisioning and deployment tasks, maintaining operational procedures, resolving issues, and recommending improvements.
- Experience designing large or complex systems, assessing design options and trade‑offs, balancing functional and non‑functional requirements, reviewing system designs, managing associated risks, and contributing to system design standards, methods, and architectural component selection.
- Capability to undertake or supervise complex system installations and removals, develop installation and handover procedures, schedule work based on priorities and resources, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Strong skills in provisioning, configuring, and evaluating system software, planning and testing new versions, resolving service issues, and maintaining clear, accessible operational procedures and diagnostics.

To be eligible for this role, you must be an Australian Citizen. Due to the work environment, our client has requested that all candidates are required to hold a current Top Security Clearance. The successful candidate will need to undergo an additional security assessment before commencing in the role.
