The System Engineer is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and improvement of enterprise infrastructure services, with a strong focus on certificate management, Linux systems, security controls, and infrastructure migrations. The role supports secure and reliable system operations across multiple environments and contributes to continuous improvement through project delivery and operational enhancements.
Key Deliverables, Outputs and Outcomes
- Certificate Authority and Certificate Management
- Manage and maintain enterprise certificate services,
- Administer external certificates using DigiCert and manage an internal Windows Server Local Certificate Authority environment comprising multiple CAs.
- Lead certificate authority migrations, including the build and implementation of new CA infrastructure.
- Linux Systems Administration
- Provide operational support for Linux environments
- Perform Linux infrastructure migrations and ongoing system maintenance.
- Develop and maintain Linux Standard Operating Environments (SOEs), including the build and migration of an Essential Eight-aligned RHEL image.
- Apply scripting capabilities, including BASH, to support automation and system management.
- Security and Monitoring
- Maintain security controls, including the deployment and updating of antivirus solutions in high-side environments.
- Implement and enhance system monitoring capabilities.
- Conduct regular system health checks and daily operational monitoring activities.
- Projects, Migrations, and Upgrades
- Contribute to and lead project-based work, including application and infrastructure migrations.
- Support system and application upgrades to improve security, performance, and reliability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of migration and upgrade activities.
- IT infrastructure: Level 4 (SFIA)
- Systems installation and removal: Level 5 (SFIA)
Contract: 12 Months Contract with 2 x 12 month extensions
Security Required: NV1 Security Clearance required
Location - Canberra Hybrid - 3 days a week in the office
