About the Role
The Senior System Integration Infrastructure Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, integrating, and sustaining high‑availability infrastructure that supports mission‑critical digital services.
This senior position involves leading end‑to‑end engineering activities across physical, virtual, networking, and cloud environments. You will also drive the integration of COTS, GOTS, and open‑source technologies while supporting deployment, testing, documentation, and ongoing sustainment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architecting, deploying, and maintaining secure, scalable Linux and Kubernetes systems.
- Creating Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) environments to build, manage, and secure virtual and physical infrastructure.
- Packaging, deploying, and managing containerised workloads on Kubernetes.
- Leading an Agile, DevOps‑focused delivery team.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to translate capability requirements into technical solutions.
- Documenting technical processes and supporting system accreditation workflows.
You will be an experienced Systems Integration and Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in secure environments and modern automation practices. You bring excellent problem‑solving skills, technical leadership capability, and the ability to operate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Essential experience includes:
- Leading the engineering, deployment, and maintenance of complex Linux (RHEL 7+) and Kubernetes systems.
- Proven experience creating and maintaining infrastructure using IaC methodologies.
- Strong capability in containerised application deployment and management.
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and ability to deliver integrated system outcomes.
- Experience leading teams within Agile and DevOps environments.
- Strong documentation and organisational skills.
- RHCSA / RHCE
- Linux Foundation Certified Kubernetes Administrator
- AWS certifications
- Experience with CI/CD tooling, including Ansible playbooks and pipelines

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 18 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Experience Level: Senior – EL1 Equivalent
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
