Senior Systems Analyst

The Role:

Systems Analysts (Senior) analyse datasets with a variety of tools to research and solve organisational issues and identify trends and insights to support organisational outcomes.
Systems Analysts (Senior) are responsible for translating business needs into requirements and specifications for development of management information reporting solutions. It includes designing, analysing and documenting requirements to meet business expectations. They are responsible for writing functional specifications from the business requirements.

Systems Analysts (Senior) understand customer data requirements and can analyse matching scenarios within the data management tools. The role assists with the management of the organisation’s data assets in order to improve and maintain data quality.

Systems Analysts (Senior) work under the limited direction of senior staff. They exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.

Decision making is dependent on judgement, skills and knowledge. Systems Analysts (Senior) manage and organise their own work in the context of competing priorities, including contributing to business planning, changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies

 

Key duties and responsibilities:

Duties may include some or all the following:
• perform detailed analysis and evaluation of business processes and requirements
• create solution designs and implement solutions to meet business needs
• create and maintain solution documents
• support daily operations and monitor performance of business solutions
• adhere to delivery and support methodologies and contribute ideas for improvement
• perform detailed technical application assessments considering feasibility, resource effort, risks and benefits
• conduct testing activities such as test planning, execution coverage reviews and defect management
• collaborate with stakeholders to define tasks, resolve issues, solve problems and ensure effective and timely implementation of projects
• undertake project quality management tasks such as peer and quality reviews of specifications, design and testing documents
• review research, process models and documentation of other staff, providing guidance and feedback
• resolve or escalate issues as required and suggest alternative approaches and solutions
• perform cost analysis activities as required
• manage the life cycle of changes and improvements to systems 
• collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure effective and timely implementation of projects
• contribute to the development and implementation of improvements and best practice in processes and procedures
• contribute to relevant business and people planning, and develop local strategies to improve against key performance measures
• prepare correspondence such as reports, corporate and technical documentation for review by executive level staff
• resolve or escalate issues as required and suggest alternative approaches
• provide comprehensive technical support to senior management

 

Location and Contract Term: This role can be done in ACT or NSW . 12 -month contract with extension options pending budget and delegate approval.

Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a baseline security clearance.
