We are seeking an experienced Server Engineer to support and evolve secure, cloud‑native and on‑premises platforms within a highly regulated environment. This is a hands‑on technical role working closely with senior technology stakeholders to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of business‑critical systems. You will support modern, containerised platforms and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives as the organisation scales.
This role may be offered on a permanent, fixed‑term, or contract basis and is primarily remote, with travel to Canberra or another nominated location as required. Due to the nature of the environments supported, candidates must hold, This is a long‑term opportunity suited to an engineer seeking stability, technical ownership, and career progression.
Major Duties:
- Build, configure, and maintain Linux servers across production and non‑production environments
- Manage and support cloud and on‑premises infrastructure to ensure availability and performance
- Deploy, operate, and support container platforms and associated services
- Implement security baselines, system hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation
- Automate routine operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity using appropriate tools
- Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative improvements
- Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
- Strong hands‑on Linux systems administration experience
- Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure and virtualised environments
- Excellent troubleshooting skills across OS, networking, and performance issues
- Scripting and automation capability using Bash and/or Python
- Experience working in security‑focused or compliance‑driven environments
- Experience operating container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools and deployment practices
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
- Background supporting government or highly regulated environments
