About the Role

The Solution Architect is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality, scalable, and maintainable technology solutions that not only align with frameworks, capabilities and enterprise positions but meet business requirements. This role bridges the gap between business problems and technology solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and strategic goals.

The purpose of this role is to provide solution architecture design, delivery and assurance services to stakeholders to ensure valued and fit for purpose solutions are implemented, Information Communications and Technology (ICT) risks are managed, and optimal benefits are realised from ICT investment.

The Solution Architect will work closely with the clients Strategy & Architecture team in the Information Technology Branch (ITB) and with the Technical Lead on the CDSS project. This position will work on other initiatives in the program including camera scheduling and applications related to geospatial and speed data, along with the collection and updating of site and asset information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Design end-to-end architecture for applications, integrations, and infrastructure.
  • Ensure solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture, security policies, and compliance standards.
  • Select appropriate technologies, platforms, and frameworks.
  • Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical guidance to development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and approve design documents, code, and configurations.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and optimised for performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, developers, and other stakeholders.
  • Present solution designs to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Act as a liaison between business and technical teams.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, such as, Information Technology and Business Subject Matter Experts.
  • Implementation Support
  • Support development and implementation phases by resolving design-related issues.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and performance tuning.
  • Ensure proper documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Governance & Standards
  • Ensure the overall direction and integrity of technical products adhere to relevant Enterprise Architecture strategies, roadmaps, principles and standards.
  • Maintain architectural documentation and solution repositories.
  • Participate in architecture review boards and governance forums.
The Successful Candidate

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect or similar role.
  • Proven experience in geospatial technologies, data & databases, location and tracking Strong understanding in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proficiency in integration technologies (APIs, microservices, ESB).
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps, etc.).
 

Desirable Skills:
- Current and varied experience across public and private sector is highly desirable.

  • Experience with enterprise architecture best practices and methods.
  • TOGAF Certification and/or AWS Certification
  • 8+ year's proven experience in design and delivery of technology solutions in a large and diverse organisation.
