About the Role
We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to support a high‑priority program within a secure government environment.
In this role, you will:
- Manage, maintain, and optimise secure ICT systems and infrastructure.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting across Linux and/or Windows environments.
- Monitor system performance, implement updates, and ensure reliability and security of core platforms.
- Assist in the integration of new technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with technical specialists, engineers, and program stakeholders to meet operational and capability objectives.
This engagement offers an initial 12‑month contract with potential extension options. The position is based in Canberra, ACT. Flexible work arrangements may be considered.
The Successful Candidate
To be successful, you must:
- Be an Australian Citizen with a current TSPV security clearance, or have held one within the last 12 months.
- Demonstrate strong experience in:
- System administration in secure or complex ICT environments
- Linux and/or Windows system management
- Patching, maintenance, and configuration management
- Monitoring and performance optimisation
- Managing secure networks, servers, and infrastructure services
- Be capable of working independently within a high‑security, high‑accountability environment.
- Show excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working within government or defence environments
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting
- Understanding of cyber security principles and secure system architecture
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus potential extensions
SFIA level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 4.
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered. An OSA(Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
