About the Role
We are seeking experienced System Engineers to support the delivery of complex, integrated ICT and capability development projects.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role across the full systems engineering lifecycle — from requirements definition and system design through to integration, verification, and delivery.
You will:
- Design and develop integrated system solutions aligned to organisational and technical roadmaps
- Produce key engineering artefacts (e.g. system requirements, functional specifications, support system specifications)
- Support system architecture and design activities across multiple projects
- Analyse complex systems and provide engineering recommendations and solutions
- Collaborate with stakeholders including project managers, business analysts, and senior decision-makers
- Contribute to testing, verification, and validation processes
- Identify risks, manage issues, and escalate where required
- Support continuous improvement and best practice engineering processes
You’ll have the opportunity to work across a diverse program of work, contributing to multiple projects of varying scope and complexity.
The Successful Candidate
You are a capable and adaptable Systems Engineer with strong experience working in complex, high-security or enterprise environments.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering across design, integration, and delivery
- Strong understanding of systems design methodologies (predictive and/or agile approaches)
- Experience producing and reviewing system engineering documentation and artefacts
- Ability to analyse complex systems, assess trade-offs, and recommend solutions
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience contributing to large-scale or mission-critical programs
- Experience working in Defence, intelligence, or other secure environments
- Exposure to system architecture and large, integrated platform delivery
Candidates must also be willing to undergo an Defence Industry Suitability Assessment (DISA) prior to engagement.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Experience Level: Senior – EL1 Equivalent
Security Requirements: Candidates must hold an active or reactivatable Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Security Clearance on submission. Our client is not looking to upgrade an existing clearance for this position. A DISA will be required for this position.
