The end client is a government organisation operating within a highly regulated environment, undertaking major initiatives to modernise systems and improve service delivery. This role supports enterprise‑level analysis and system design activities across large, complex programs.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior IT Systems Analyst to design, analyse, and refine systems that meet both business and technical requirements.

You will work across predictive and agile delivery lifecycles, collaborating with Product Owners, architects, and delivery teams to translate concepts into detailed designs, specifications, and models ready for implementation and verification. This role requires strong analytical capability, stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to balance functionality, quality, risk, and feasibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse business processes and workflows to identify opportunities for technology‑driven efficiency and improvement.
  • Design and analyse IT systems, ensuring alignment with approved architectures, standards, and performance constraints.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed functional and non‑functional specifications, models, and designs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across business, architecture, and delivery teams to refine backlogs and plan releases.
  • Evaluate solution options and conduct impact analysis to support decision‑making.
  • Support system testing, deployment activities, and large‑scale implementations.
  • Resolve minor system issues and contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain high‑quality system documentation and design artefacts.
  • Support change management and user enablement activities, including training and guidance.
Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years’ hands‑on experience analysing and designing complex technical solutions.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles(predictive and agile).
  • Technical knowledge spanning:
    • System integration
    • Database management
    • Programming concepts (e.g. Java, .NET)
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability, with the ability to assess complex systems and propose effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, including:
    • Translating business needs into technical artefacts
    • Facilitating discussions between business and technical teams
    • Producing clear documentation and presentations
Desirable Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or CBAP(advantageous).
  • Experience working in government or highly regulated environments.
  • Exposure to Digital Identity solutions.
Security & Eligibility Requirements

  • Must hold an active AGSVA Baseline, NV1, or NV2 Security Clearance.
  • Must be eligible to work in Australia.
