About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer – Autonomous Systems / AI Assurance to support the development, assurance and integration of autonomous and AI-enabled capabilities within a Defence environment.
In this role, you will work across both technical and policy domains, helping to enable the safe and effective adoption of autonomous systems in complex operational contexts.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the application and integration of autonomous systems within Defence programs
  • Contributing to the development and assurance of AI-enabled capabilities
  • Assisting in shaping policy and regulatory frameworks for autonomous system adoption
  • Facilitating workshops and engaging with technical SMEs and stakeholders
  • Supporting the evolution of mission-critical systems in complex environments
The Successful Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Experience in autonomous systems and/or AI applications, ideally within Defence or complex environments
  • Strong understanding of AI assurance and system integration principles
  • Exposure to policy, governance or regulatory frameworks for emerging technologies
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and facilitate technical workshops
  • A collaborative, team-focused approach with strong communication skills

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
Security Requirements: Must be an Australian Citizens with an active TSPV clearance
