About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to provide technical leadership, engineering oversight and hands-on support across a complex Defence ICT environment.

Working closely with engineers, project teams and key stakeholders, you will act as the senior technical authority responsible for driving technical outcomes across design, implementation, sustainment, troubleshooting and capability uplift initiatives. This role requires a broad infrastructure background and the ability to provide leadership across multiple technology domains while remaining hands-on when required. 

Role Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership across enterprise ICT platforms and associated services. 
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues, incidents and engineering challenges. 
  • Lead engineering governance, technical assurance and risk management activities. 
  • Support the design, implementation and optimisation of secure, resilient and supportable infrastructure solutions. 
  • Lead technical change initiatives, upgrades and technology refresh activities. 
  • Coordinate engineering efforts across internal teams, vendors and stakeholders. 
  • Provide technical leadership across technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, SQL Server, Exchange, OpenShift, networking and security platforms. 
  • Drive problem management, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Maintain technical documentation, standards, design artefacts and engineering baselines.
Qualifications and Experience To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • At least 10 years' experience in ICT engineering, systems administration, technical leadership or a related discipline. 
  • Experience operating within complex enterprise ICT environments. 
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and engineering activities.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across multiple infrastructure technologies. 
  • Experience working within Defence or other classified Australian Government ICT environments. 
Demonstrated experience across several of the following:
  • VMware
  • Windows Server
  • Active Directory
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • SQL Server
  • OpenShift
  • Enterprise networking
  • Security technologies
  • Monitoring and management platforms 
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
