Requirements
The ICT Sustainment & Resilience Program requires ICT Technical Specialists to lead the relevant technical workstream program and deliver individual projects within the program:
- Platform Consolidation & Enhancements: modernise, consolidate, and enhance aging platforms that are nearing or have surpassed their end-of-life support.
- Server Remediation: modernise and uplift applications hosted on legacy servers which are at the end or nearing the end of their current lifecycle.
- Network Revitalisation: remediate end of life network hardware and uplift the network by incorporating solutions that improve network performance, enhance cyber security, lower the complexity, and ultimately reduce costs of running the network.
- Resilience & Recovery: implement and uplift capabilities for high availability, disaster recovery and backups.
- Developing and documenting strategies for the replacement/upgrade of End of Life and End of Support items including discovery, analysis, recommendation, and migration.
- Developing and documenting strategies to remediate key infrastructure risks.
- Working closely with ICT outsourced providers and business owners on the planning and implementation of technical strategies and tactical wins.
- Ensuring that strategies and recommendations align with cloud/on-prem models.
- Ensuring smooth transition of final solutions to the BAU teams.
- Utilising Information Systems to interrogate, input, collate and retrieve data for operational support.
- Collaboratively work with business and product stakeholders across DSD to understand needs, expectations and current pain points.
- Lead technical planning and delivery of the project in accordance with the program outcomes, including managing technical dependencies.
- Lead technical resources on the program to capture key program artefacts, including scope, timeframes, budget, risks and issues.
- Manage technical teams, and partner with multiple vendors, to deliver outcomes under tight timeframes.
- Ensure compliance with the relevant governance arrangements associated with delivery of the department’s ICT projects.
- Maintaining currency and subject matter expertise through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities outside the formal education process.
1. Extensive experience working in Federal Government. o Ability to adapt/work across agile and waterfall methodologies. o At least 5 years’ experience as a Technical Specialist working within technology, networks and/or infrastructure projects. o Knowledge of, or experience implementing ISM and Essential 8 controls.
2. Sound analytical skills. o Expert troubleshooting, advanced problem solving and diagnostic skills, with an ability to assess highly technical problems and implement solutions within own expertise. o Demonstrated ability to critically assess information and articulate results through words and diagrams. o Organising your work, making sound decisions, and achieving outcomes.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical teams, partnering with multiple vendors to deliver outcomes under tight timeframes.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including clear and effective facilitation and presentation skills and the ability to produce clear and concise written materials.
5. Demonstrated experience with a broad range of on-premises and ‘as a service’ technologies, including (but not limited to): • Nutanix and VMWare compute environments. • Veritas NetBackup and Dell Avamar backup solutions. • Azure cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS). • Linux/Unix and Windows servers and databases. • ICT services including DNS, NTP, AD, PKI, Microsoft Exchange, monitoring, logging, automation/CICD, and VDI technologies. • Aruba solution stack (wired and wireless) • Fortinet solution stack
Desirable criteria
1. Demonstrated experience designing and implementing complex technical solutions utilising a Systems Engineering or similar methodology.
2. Demonstrated experience assessing and improving ICT disaster recovery capability. Including: • Assessment of business/service continuity plans and ICT disaster recovery capability. • Developing a strategic initiative and obtain support from key stakeholders to address limitations. • Developing disaster recovery framework/plan and system recovery procedures.
Contract: 12 Months Contract with possible extensions
Security Required: Baseline Security Clearance required
Location - Canberra, Hybrid - 3 days in the office
