Role Overview
The Technical Tester is responsible for designing, developing, and executing technical testing activities across complex enterprise systems. This role requires strong technical testing capability, the ability to work autonomously, and the skills to collaborate effectively with developers, architects, and functional teams. The Technical Tester ensures system quality through deep technical validation, API and integration testing, automation development, and detailed analysis of system behaviour and defects.
Key Responsibilities
- Strong experience conducting technical testing across APIs, integrations, data flows, or backend systems
- Proficiency in using API testing tools (such as Postman, SOAPUI, or similar)
- Experience in test automation development using frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, REST‑assured, or equivalent
- Strong understanding of system architecture, integration patterns, data structures, and environments
- Proficiency in analysing logs, debugging issues, and performing root‑cause analysis across multiple systems
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools
- Ability to translate technical requirements into test scenarios and automation components
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Experience working within agile delivery environments
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non‑technical audiences
- Required Australian Citizenship and Mandatory AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance
- NV1 Clearance is preferred
- Ability to engage effectively with clients to understand technical requirements, risks, and quality expectations
- Strong consulting mindset with the ability to communicate complex testing concepts in business‑friendly language
- Skilled in facilitating technical workshops, test planning sessions, and defect analysis meetings
- Strong documentation and presentation capability for both technical and executive audiences
- Ability to identify risks early, propose mitigation strategies, and guide clients through quality‑focused decisions
- Ability to influence multi‑vendor and cross‑functional delivery teams to achieve quality outcomes
- Strong relationship‑building skills with the ability to work independently in client environments
- Proactive, outcomes‑focused approach supporting continuous improvement and technical quality uplift
