About the Role
The client is seeking an APS6-equivalent Technical Writer / Content Designer to support major CRM and RC projects. This role is focused on developing a wide range of documentation, from deeply technical design and configuration artefacts through to clear, user-friendly training and usage materials.
You will work closely with technical teams and service providers to produce high-quality documentation that supports system design, delivery, and ongoing operations. The role requires strong content design capability, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex technical information into accessible content for varied audiences, including end users and senior stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Producing design, configuration, technical support, and training documentation
  • Developing system design, technical reference, service support, and operational documents
  • Compiling and synthesising technical notes from service providers into cohesive system and security documentation
  • Liaising with technical teams and external providers to clarify and refine documentation inputs
  • Creating user-friendly, executive-level guides and training materials
  • Ensuring all documentation aligns with Commonwealth Style Guide and accessibility standards (including WCAG)
  • Supporting Agile delivery teams and maintaining documentation quality across the full lifecycle
The Successful Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Technical Writer or Content Designer who thrives in complex technical environments and enjoys collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
You will bring:
  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality online software and technical documentation
  • Exceptional ability to write clear, plain-English, user-centred content for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong capability translating complex technical concepts without loss of accuracy
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and Atlassian tools (Confluence and Jira)
  • Experience working within Agile environments (SAFe highly regarded)
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

Location: Canberra, ACT
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions at our clients discretion.
Security Requirements: Must be an Australian Citizens with an active NV1 or higher security clearance.
