About the Role
We are seeking an experienced NV1‑cleared Technical Writer to join a secure system build project in Canberra. In this role, you will develop comprehensive technical, security, and accreditation documentation that supports the full system lifecycle — from design through to implementation, audit/assurance, and operational transition.
This position is offered as an initial 6‑month contract with extensions, with the option to consider a permanent engagement for the right candidate.
Role Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and maintain technical documentation including:
- system design documents
- configuration guides
- SOPs and user manuals
- security and accreditation artefacts
- Ensure documentation aligns with governance, compliance, and accreditation frameworks.
- Translate complex technical information into clear, structured, user‑friendly content.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, cyber security specialists, and project managers to source and validate technical information.
- Maintain version control, templates, and documentation repositories.
- Support audit and assurance activities by ensuring documentation accuracy and traceability.
- Contribute to knowledge transfer and operational handover materials.
- Relevant qualifications in Technical Writing, IT, Communications, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience producing documentation within secure systems, ICT, or high‑assurance environments.
- Strong understanding of governance, compliance, or accreditation documentation requirements.
- Experience using Visio to document systems, workflows, and architectures.
- Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Experience in Government, Defence, or critical infrastructure environments highly desirable.
- Ability to work on‑site in Canberra in a collaborative, technical environment.
- A long‑term, secure engagement with extension and permanent options.
