About the role:
An opportunity exists for a Test Manager who will be responsible for overseeing test planning, execution, governance, and quality assurance across technology projects and releases. The role ensures high‑quality delivery outcomes that meet business, technical, and regulatory requirements.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Be an Australian citizen with an active NV1 AGSVA clearance. Active Baseline will be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience can also be considered in lieu of a degree.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of testing across multiple projects or workstreams.
- Develop and maintain test strategies, test plans, and test schedules.
- Ensure test coverage across functional, integration, system, regression, and user acceptance testing.
- Manage and support test analysts, automation engineers, and other quality team members.
- Oversee defect management processes, including triage, prioritisation, and resolution.
- Coordinate with business SMEs, developers, architects, and project managers to align testing with solution designs and timelines.
- Apply risk‑based testing practices to focus effort on priority areas.
- Maintain quality metrics and provide reporting on test readiness, execution, and risks.
- Ensure compliance with organisational testing standards, quality frameworks, and audit requirements.
- Support integration of automation, performance testing, and continuous improvement practices.
- Manage test environments, test data requirements, and system dependencies.
- Contribute to continual improvement of testing methodologies, processes, and tools.
The Successful Candidate
- Experience as a Test Manager or Senior Test Lead delivering testing for medium to large technology projects.
- Strong understanding of end‑to‑end testing processes, methodologies, and quality management frameworks.
- Experience developing test strategies, plans, schedules, and reporting artefacts.
- Experience using defect management and test management tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps.
- Experience managing cross‑functional testing teams including functional and automation testers.
- Ability to manage risks, issues, constraints, and dependencies across project delivery environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide clear updates to senior stakeholders.
- Experience working within Agile, Hybrid, or Waterfall delivery models.
Preferred Experience
- ISTQB or similar testing certification.
- Exposure to test automation frameworks and CICD environments.
- Experience with performance or security testing.
- Experience working within Australian government, defence, utilities, or large enterprise environments.
Soft Skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation capabilities.
- Leadership skills to guide teams in complex delivery environments.
- Analytical and detail‑focused mindset.
- Adaptability and commitment to continuous improvement.
