About the Consultancy

Join a leading government agency embarking on a large‑scale network, communications, and digital transformation program. Our teams deliver mission‑critical platforms that underpin emergency services, public safety, and highly available operational environments, offering long‑term opportunities on high‑impact programs.

About the End Client

The end client is a major public safety organisation undertaking a significant modernisation of its emergency communications and telephony platforms. This role supports a mission‑critical program focused on replacing legacy emergency telephone systems with a next‑generation, resilient, and scalable solution.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Architect – Voice & Telephony Network Specialist to lead the end‑to‑end solution architecture for a next‑generation Emergency Telephone System replacement.

You will play a pivotal role in designing, governing, and delivering a highly available and resilient solution covering telephony, IVR, CAD integration, omnichannel communications, network infrastructure, applications, and integrations.

This is a senior architecture role suited to candidates with deep experience in emergency services, public safety, or similarly mission‑critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end‑to‑end solution architecture from requirements through to deployment and transition to operations.
  • Design scalable and resilient architectures across:
    • IP telephony platforms (SIP, call routing, call recording)
    • IVR systems and call flow design
    • CAD (Computer‑Aided Dispatch) integrations and workflows
    • Omnichannel communications (voice, SMS, chat, digital channels)
    • Network architecture (LAN/WAN, QoS, redundancy, security)
    • Supporting application platforms and services
  • Define and document integration architectures between telephony, CAD, emergency systems, and third‑party applications.
  • Translate operational and emergency services requirements into robust technical designs.
  • Ensure solutions meet stringent availability, resiliency, security, and performance requirements.
  • Support vendor evaluation, solution selection, and introduction of new technologies.
  • Provide architectural governance across build, testing, deployment, and cutover phases.
  • Support deployment planning, live cutovers, and risk mitigation in operational emergency environments.
  • Produce clear architecture documentation, standards, and diagrams.
Key Challenges

  • Managing transition from legacy telephony platforms to modern architectures while maintaining uninterrupted emergency services.
  • Coordinating multiple interdependent workstreams across infrastructure, applications, and network upgrades.
  • Balancing competing program priorities while maintaining alignment to enterprise architecture standards.
  • Ensuring all customer requirements are traceable through design, build, and testing.
Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect on complex, multi‑system transformation programs.
  • Strong background in telephony and emergency communications systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with:
    • IVR platforms
    • CAD systems and integrations
    • Omnichannel contact centre technologies
    • High‑availability network design
    • Application architecture and system integration
  • Experience working in emergency services, public safety, or other mission‑critical environments.
  • Demonstrated success delivering system replacements or major platform transformations.
  • Strong understanding of deployment strategies, phased rollouts, and live‑system cutovers.
  • Experience with cloud‑based or hybrid telephony/contact centre platforms.
  • Knowledge of standards‑based integrations (APIs, SIP, REST, middleware).
  • Strong awareness of security and compliance requirements in regulated environments.
Skills & Personal Attributes

  • Excellent communication skills across technical and operational stakeholders.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation capability.
  • Resilience and composure in high‑pressure environments.
  • Strong planning, prioritisation, and decision‑making skills.
  • Deep technical curiosity and commitment to best‑practice architecture.
What’s on Offer?

  • Opportunity to architect a mission‑critical emergency communications platform.
  • Long‑term contract with extension potential through a major transformation program.
  • Work within an international consultancy with deep public safety and network expertise.
  • Exposure to cutting‑edge telephony, omnichannel, and network technologies.
  • Highly collaborative, senior‑level role with real operational impact.
