Key duties and responsibilities
- Develop and implement cloud strategies that align with the agency’s business goals, ensuring scalability, security and cost-efficiency across cloud environments.
- Design and deploy cloud-based architectures, including infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions, tailored to meet the agency’s requirements.
- Lead the migration of applications and systems to the cloud, ensuring minimal disruption and optimisation of resources throughout the process.
- Implement security best practices and ensure cloud architectures meet industry standards and regulatory requirements, including data protection and privacy policies.
- Work closely with development, operations and security teams to ensure cloud solutions are fully integrated into existing systems and workflows.
- Continuously monitor cloud resources for performance, cost-effectiveness and scalability, ensuring that solutions are resilient and efficient.
- Assess and recommend appropriate cloud technologies, platforms and tools that will best meet the needs of the business and provide long-term scalability
- Design and implement cloud-based disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure resilience and minimise downtime.
- Provide detailed documentation of cloud architecture designs, implementation processes and operational procedures, ensuring clarity and consistency across teams.
- Engage with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, to provide cloud strategy recommendations, progress reports and technical guidance.
- Provide guidance and training to internal teams on cloud technologies, best practices and operational processes to foster skill development and self-sufficiency.
- Drive strategic planning and execution of the Departments Cloud Adoption Program, including integration of cloud technologies and services.
- Stay up to date with cloud technologies and trends, proactively recommending improvements or innovations to enhance cloud operations and business outcomes.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in field of expertise.
- Formal training and demonstrated application of technical architecture methodology in one or more disciplines, including enterprise, solutions or network architecture.
- Demonstrated engagement skills, including ability to lead complex technical discussions to reach common understanding and agreement from a broad range of technical specialists.
- Excellent communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior leaders.
- Experience working in one or more NIC agencies in a capability delivery capacity.
