We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure-Platform Consultant to lead a geographically distributed team supporting Azure-hosted environments. The role combines hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and service delivery oversight. You’ll be responsible for ensuring platform health, driving best practices, and collaborating with stakeholders to meet evolving business and compliance needs.
Key Responsibilities:
This is a contract role based in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, or Ballarat, commencing as soon as available. You’ll work on a high-impact Azure platform supporting critical workloads in a secure and regulated environment.

About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure-Platform Consultant to lead a geographically distributed team supporting Azure-hosted environments. The role combines hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and service delivery oversight. You’ll be responsible for ensuring platform health, driving best practices, and collaborating with stakeholders to meet evolving business and compliance needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of Azure platform engineers across multiple sites.
- Act as L3 escalation point for infrastructure incidents and performance issues.
- Review and approve infrastructure changes, automation scripts, and configurations.
- Enforce Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and governance standards.
- Coordinate patching, backup validation, and performance monitoring.
- Integrate monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Dynatrace) for proactive issue detection.
- Collaborate with architects and security teams on hardening and modernisation.
- Maintain system documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
- Participate in CAB meetings and support audit and compliance activities.
- Coach junior engineers and support team development initiatives.
- 4+ years managing infrastructure in Microsoft Azure environments.
- 2+ years leading or mentoring technical teams.
- Strong experience with RHEL and Windows Server VMs.
- Proficiency in Azure IaaS services and patching tools.
- Familiarity with Azure Monitor and Dynatrace.
- Solid troubleshooting across compute, network, and OS layers.
- Understanding of ITIL processes and service management.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or DevOps Engineer.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
- Experience in government or regulated environments.
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or ARM templates).
