The Role:
Reporting to the Assistant Director (Digital), the UX design lead is responsible for overseeing all design work for the Departments websites and web applications and ensuring it is consistent with whole of government policy and standards.
You will be working in a Drupal CMS/Java script environment with prototyping in Figma to design digital interactions for a range of audience cohorts and across a range of platforms and devices.
Lead user experience designer responsibilities include:
1. Experience in using content management systems to create or design webpages, organise information architecture, oversee user permissions to manage volatility and maintain or review the usability and design of digital products.
2. Experience in creating and presenting wireframes and mock-ups for digital products to internal and external stakeholders which meet mandatory whole of government design processes and standards.
3. Experience in applying a diverse range of user research and testing methodologies and elicitation techniques to inform the design of digital products in all stages of the lifecycle.
4. Accessing the feasibility of digital solutions through consultation and negotiation with the development team to strike a balance between user and development needs.
5. Experience working collaboratively in an agile multidisciplinary team in a fast paced environment with multiple competing priorities
Location and Contract Term: This role can be based in ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC, WA. On site at least 3 days a week. Flexible Working Arrangements (including remote working arrangements) will be considered.
Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens. A baseline security clearance or the ability to obtain is required.

- Overseeing, designing and conducting user experience research.
- Eliciting requirements and preferences from stakeholders.
- Designing user interactions and interfaces which meet business and audience needs.
- Engaging broadly across disciplines to ensure all relevant functional, quality and compliance criteria are captured.
