Overview:
Our large Federal Government client has a requirement for a Senior Security Analyst (level 5) to provide project, data, operational and strategic cyber security, digital forensics, data management and system administration subject matter expertise for IT IS activities over the term, with specific emphasis on defensibility and integrity of IT IS capability and data holdings.
Major Responsibilities:
Contract term: 12 months with 2x12 month extensions
Location: Canberra, ACT
SFIA level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 5.
Security Requirements: To be eligible, you must be an Australian Citizen and hold current Positive Vetting (TSPV) minimum security clearance.

Major Responsibilities:
- Draw and communicate insights from data sources and explain the relationship between the data and the context in which its used.
- Experience with the range of data security classifications and information handling practices.
- Experience handling and analysing evidentiary data and contributing to investigations including digital forensics practices.
- Experience with data analysis and investigative software applications (Nuix, FTK, Axiom, X-Ways).
- Undertake, document and improve business situations and operating procedures
- May be a team coach or lead a team and coordinate work priorities, manage workflows and build team capability through coaching, providing feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others in a work unit (including conducting assurance activities such as Quality Assurance Reviews).
- Engage with stakeholders and identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs and expectations in relation to complex issues to achieve delivery of business and organisational outcomes
- Develop and deliver effective narrative to communicate insights drawn from a range of data sources and comfortably question data and results presented to answer technical questions relevant to the audience through translation of technical and non-technical concepts and explain the relationship between the data and the context in which it is used.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of data security classifications and appropriate information handling requirements and provide expert advice where needed, while using various summary and metadata options to effectively describe data and explain and justify those choices.
- Manage, analyse and design business processes to identify alternative solutions and improvements to efficiency through exploitation of new methodologies, technologies or automation to contribute to the delivery of business requirements, policies, standards and guidelines.
- Coordinate, contribute to and lead digital forensics or incident response investigations by processing and analysing evidence and artefacts in line with policy, standards and guidelines and support production of forensics findings and reports, presenting as an expert witness as necessary.
- Analyse evidence and data artefacts, exercising initiative and judgement, in line with policy, standards and guidelines to identify breaches of policy, regulation or law, including the presence of malware.
- Implement and contribute to the development of data management processes, for specific subsets of data, assessing the integrity of data from multiple sources and providing advice on the transformation of data from one format/medium to another while maintaining and implementing information handling procedures to enable the availability, integrity and search ability of information through the application of formal data and metadata structures and protection measures.
- Understand relevant data sharing legislation, guidelines and organisational procedures to support the wide spectrum of potential uses for unit data.
- Understand metadata concepts and different ways of summarising data, including its purpose and benefits and can create and follow organisation standards and procedures relating to metadata creation, storage and use for a better understanding of existing data.
- Contributes to the development of policies, standards and guidelines for the conduct of incident response, digital forensic investigations or evidentiary data analysis.
- Contributes to the ongoing professional development of personnel through the sharing of skills and expertise, and demonstration of technical leadership.
