Overview:
Our large Federal Government client has a requirement for a Software Developer (level 5) who will be responsible for working under direction as a member of a team responsible for developing software, integrating Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) software, documenting technical processes and assisting with testing and deployment. The role will need very high level software development skills and a proven ability to work within an integrated team of technical/non-technical personnel. The program of work has multiple projects which range in size. The successful candidate may be required to work across one or more of these projects.

Contract terms: April 2024 (estimate) for 24 months (June 2026)
Location: Canberra, ACT or any other location as determined by the Commonwealth.
SFIA level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 5.
Security Requirements: To be eligible, you must be an Australian Citizen and hold current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered.

Major Responsibilities:
- Takes responsibility for the development of software using a variety of software languages and development environments, to ensure it meets business requirements.
- Deliver scripting using a variety of languages (e.g. Java, JavaScript) and secondary skills (e.g. SQL).
- Lead the development of software that supports high quality User Experience outcomes.
- Adhere to and improve software engineering processes.
- Contribute to and support leadership efforts to improve engineering processes.
- Identify system interdependencies and liaise with other system stakeholders to resolve conflict and coordinate integrated solutions.
- Provide guidance and direction to an integrated Agile team to meet the prioritised schedule of work.
- Document technical processes and write documentation in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Establish and foster productive working relationships by working cohesively and flexibly with the developer team, the broader program team, key business partners and stakeholder groups.
- Develop a schedule of work and report on progress
Skills and Knowledge:
- Java (essential) – Spring Framework Experience (Desirable)
- JavaScript (essential) – React experience (Desirable)
- Database – Postgres/PostGIS or MongoDB experience (Desirable)
