Our client advises Army on its digital network integration efforts to maximise interoperability across Land, Joint and Coalition interface boundaries and to meet critical information exchange requirements. The intent is to ensure that investments are integrated to maximise the operational functions of individual projects within the Operating System.
About the role/ Experience required:
Our client is seeking an experienced System Administrator to assist with the ongoing design, implementation and administration of the physical and virtual networked environments that comprise the Systems Support Environment and other domains.
The position is primarily a technical hands-on role with responsibility for a networked compute and storage infrastructure containing multiple virtualised and physical tenancies. You will be expected to manage all aspects of the Systems Support Environment, allocation of its resources including provision of common IT resources and the ongoing security compliance of the infrastructure.
The contractor will be expected to support the production of technical documentation, liaise with technical SMEs from user organisations and provide limited individual training on use of the environment where required. Additionally, they will be expected to provide subject matter expertise and technical considerations into project planning, project management and technical risk management for upgrades and capability expansion of the Systems Support Environment. Finally, they will be required to enforce configuration management of the environment.

Key duties and responsibilities
- Day to day management of the virtual and physical infrastructure.
- Establish and maintain Configuration Management of hardware and software for the core infrastructure and assist with Configuration Management of connected environments, including conducting periodic audits.
- Conduct Availability Management, for the capacity allocation and enduring management.
- Maintain ongoing security accreditation of the environment through security monitoring, vulnerability assessments, configuration management, patching of operating systems and applications, and providing subject matter expertise into security threat risk analysis.
- Maintain a Change Management process for the core infrastructure and setup, administration and teardown of user environments within it.
- Install, configure and administer military software applications (including Windows and Linux based servers and applications).
The successful candidate has experience with:
- VMware ESXi version 6.5 (and later)
- VMware vCenter version 6.5 (and later)
- Windows Server 2016
- Active Directory and Group Policy
- EndPoint Security Technologies
- Windows SOE Management
- Enterprise Backup Solutions
- Hyper Converged Infrastructure Solutions
- Network & Infrastructure Monitoring Solutions
- Vulnerability Management and Scanning Tools
