About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst with a disciplined background in BA roles, not recently transitioned from development, testing, or consulting. The ideal candidate has a strong track record of working on data-heavy, technically complex projects, particularly in system integration and migrations. Proficiency in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies is required, along with a passion for data and some experience in data analysis. Prior experience within the Banking and Financial Services industry is highly desirable.

Located in Sydney, this role offers a hybrid working arrangement.

About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst with a disciplined background in BA roles, not recently transitioned from development, testing, or consulting. The ideal candidate has a strong track record of working on data-heavy, technically complex projects, particularly in system integration and migrations. Proficiency in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies is required, along with a passion for data and some experience in data analysis. Key responsibilities will include:
- Documenting application strategy, project scope, and business requirements
- Preparing requirements documentation for both Waterfall (Functional Data and Technical Services Specifications) and Agile (Epics, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria) methodologies, including hybrid approaches
- Leading workshops on project scope, functional requirements, data definitions, and solution design
- Driving Agile ceremonies: grooming, estimation, sprint planning, showcases, and retrospectives
- Analysing complex data patterns from various technology sources and interfacing applications
- Mapping, merging, and translating data from source to destination, documenting flows for stakeholders and technical teams
- Focusing on data mapping and definitions across consumer systems, middleware, and source components
- Reviewing and providing feedback on business and technical documents, from requirements to test cases and implementation plans
- Supporting requirements through design, development, testing, implementation, and warranty phases
- 5+ years’ combined experience in Business, Technical, and Data Analysis
- Degree in Business or IT (or equivalent experience)
- Proven expertise in process analysis and re-engineering
- Strong data analysis and migration skills, including data lineage, profiling, querying, and A-C mapping
- Systems integration and migration experience with exposure to diverse integration technologies, including APIs
- Hands-on experience in end-to-end Agile and Waterfall project delivery as a BA, with knowledge of best practices, tools, and methodologies
- Solid understanding of technology and business systems, both strategically and operationally
- 2+ years in Financial Services
- SQL skills are a plus
- Excellent communication, requirements analysis, technical analysis, data analysis, and documentation abilities
- Keen attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and resilience under tight timelines
- Highly flexible and adaptable to fast-changing project environments
