About the Role
As a Cloud Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting secure and scalable cloud infrastructure solutions. You’ll work across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, automate infrastructure provisioning, and ensure high performance and compliance with governance standards. This role is hands-on and requires a proactive approach to system monitoring, optimisation, and troubleshooting.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT
Contract terms: 24 months from commencement date, plus potential extensions
SFIA level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 4.
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered. An OSA (Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.

About the Role
As a Cloud Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting secure and scalable cloud infrastructure solutions. You’ll work across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, automate infrastructure provisioning, and ensure high performance and compliance with governance standards. This role is hands-on and requires a proactive approach to system monitoring, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining virtual machines, storage, networking, and databases
- Automating infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
- Monitoring system performance and optimising resource utilisation
- Troubleshooting cloud service issues to ensure reliability
- Maintaining documentation to support Cyber Security and GRC requirements
You’ll bring deep technical expertise and hands-on experience in cloud engineering, with a strong focus on security, automation, and performance. Your background should include:
- Cloud Infrastructure – experience across IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and hybrid environments
- Infrastructure as Code – proficiency with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.
- Cloud Security – knowledge of RBAC, secrets management, and native security tools
- IAM & Access Controls – experience with secure authentication and authorisation models
- Automation & Scripting – skills in Python, Bash, and CLI tools
- Containers & Orchestration – experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and managed services
