About the role:
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing data models in various data platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Support Data Solutions
- Build and support both batch and near real-time data flows.
- Utilise your knowledge of data architectures, modern platforms, big data, ML/AI, analytics, cloud platforms, data governance, and information management.
- Design Data Models tailored to business needs and specific use cases.
- Use Data Modelling Techniques like Third Normal Form (3NF), Dimensional Modelling, ER Models, and Data Vault.
- Implement Data Asset concepts and Domain Data Products.
- Create Proof of Concepts
- Collaborate with internal and external consultants and mentor junior team members
Key Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in IT Consulting or technology roles (designer, developer, tester, support).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Big Data/Data Lake services (cloud and on-premise).
- 3+ years of experience in designing and implementing data models in Big Data/Data Lake or Data Warehouse environments.
- Experience with data model products from vendors like IBM and Teradata.
- Hands-on experience with data model design tools (Erwin, Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect).
- Experience applying industry best practices, design patterns, and technical solutions.
- Experience with near real-time data flows/pipelines and distributed streaming applications.
- Experience with traditional ETL, data warehousing, and BI solutions.
- Development skills in Python, Scalar, SQL, shell scripting, and other languages.
- Experience implementing high-performance, fault-tolerant services with high availability.
- Working knowledge of data services (Azure Synapse, Cosmos DB) in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, IBM).
- Understanding of containerization, virtualization, infrastructure, and networking.
- Experience with software development methodologies (Agile, Kanban, Waterfall).
- Experience presenting to and influencing stakeholders and senior managers.
- Team leadership and people management experience.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
