Our Government client is responsible for delivering critical support functions that enhance the Australian military’s effectiveness across all domains. Its mission is to provide integrated space and cyber capabilities, information operations, and logistics support to ensure readiness during both peace and conflict. Key elements include Cyber Command, which leads cyber operations; signals intelligence; and Space Command. About the role/ Experience required:
This is a significant body of work, and the successful candidate will be required to support the Chief Architect with the successful delivery of activities and upgrades by adding your expertise and knowledge to the design and implementation of components of the environment. You will be responsible for developing the design and leading the implementation of the network upgrades. There are significant time constraints with this delivery, using time wisely with a focus on delivery of high quality artefacts.

About the role/ Experience required:

Key duties and responsibilities
- Working closely with other disciplines within the delivery team to deliver the activities, and ensuring that they follow networking best practices, and the overall architecture.
- Using the C4ISR Design Framework and the DDG roadmaps and blueprints to align our network with the enterprise network patterns and standards.
- Engaging with the Operations Team to understand the tactical and strategic objectives as well as the branches requirements.
- Developing high-level design documents, including System Overview Documents, HLD, Detailed Designs documents for the network elements including, but not limited to the datacentre fabric using Cisco ACI and Nexus 9K switches.
- Developing the detailed design for new IPAM solutions.
- Developing a detailed design for the automated deployment, configuration and management of network devices.
- Ensuring the designs will meet ISM compliance and networking security best practices to achieve Security Accreditation.
- Regular inputs into the master schedule for milestone-based delivery.
- Provide expert input into the ICT Architecture, including roadmaps, patterns, frameworks and architecture artefacts.
The successful candidate has experience with:
- Minimum 5 yrs experience as a Network Engineer or Network Architect.
- Minimum 2 yrs experience contributing to the successful outcome of ICT projects within a Federal Government environment.
- Demonstrated experience defining ICT solutions aligned with future-state architecture.
- Demonstrated experience delivering detailed designs to a high standard.
- Demonstrated experience solving complex problems.
- Demonstrated experience working within a high performing ICT Team.
Desirable:
The candidate is required to have a strong understanding and demonstrated ability with the following technologies:
- Cisco routing and switching technologies – MPLS, BGP, SD-WAN, IPSEC, VRF, EIGRP, ACLs, AAA, 802.1q.
- Cisco Catalyst Center
- Software-Defined Networking
- Cisco Firewall Management Center
- Cisco ISE
- Cisco ACI
- Cisco 8300 routers
- Cisco Catalyst 9300 series switches
- Cisco Catalyst 9500 series switches
