Our Large Federal Government client has a requirement for a Network Engineer / Administrator. The Network Engineer / Administrator is expected to provide support to the Project area with the primary focus being on ongoing planning and maintenance activities and the systems and hardware they are responsible for.
The types of system will include bare metal, virtual server and virtual desktop environments with firewalls, network and storage switches, servers, security devices and other related peripheral components.
Skills and Knowledge:
Contract terms: between 12 and 24 months will be considered.
SFIA security level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 5.
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered.

Skills and Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of enterprise datacentre networking interconnect including fibre and copper cabling standards as well as fabric and enterprise networking topologies. Firewalling, network security and network hardware across multiple vendors such as Juniper and Cisco. Ability to apply knowledge to planning, administering and influencing design on secure network installations.
- Ability to integrate other hardware technology such as virtual environments (Openstack or VMware) network security, storage and interconnection devices into established multi-vendor scenarios using 1G/10G/40G/100G TCP and UDP technology.
- Investigate and plan network requirements, service agreements and configure network connected equipment.
- Perform fault investigations as they arise using device logs or fault codes for root cause analysis. Document findings in collaborative spaces.
- Plan maintenance and sustainment cycle of network equipment including tasks such as upgrading firmware on devices using appropriate techniques.
- Undertake project planning processes to design new IT infrastructure, lead design sessions across stakeholder groups to complete.
